Your support of our first project, The Phoenix Initiative, will address the need for reliable, affordable, clean electricity.

How does The Phoenix Initiative work?

The key to trigger Lebanese socioeconomic revival is grassroots-level cooperative organization, starting with installing solar energy systems supplying 24/7, affordable  electricity.

The Phoenix Initiative is a transparently financed solar energy-powered socio-economic development program. It will help to mitigate the disastrous impact of Lebanon’s economic collapse.

The logic of the program is simple: purchasing a single solar photovoltaic system costs upward of $10,000. Aggregating demand to purchase 100,000 systems reduces the cost by at least 30%. Revenues from the sale of carbon reduction certificates will help to expand the program’s reach.

Today, a significant part of remittances sent by members of the Lebanese diaspora to their families is used to pay for electricity purchased from private operators. This part is lost forever.

A one-time donation  to the Illumi-Nation Global solar program can reduce the cost of a kWh by half. Your donation will help cover the purchase of solar panels, lithium iron batteries, and other equipment for the Ain Arab and Maamariyeh pilot installations.

These two new systems will demonstrate cost-effectiveness and qualify future projects for green bond and carbon credits financing.

Contact Illumi-Nation Global (link to contact page) for more details on the equipment purchases to which your donation will be directed, or, if interested in adding your heritage Lebanese village to The Phoenix Initiative.

Community-based solar energy systems via household subscription provide a moral, evidence-based solution with accountability to the people in a country with a weak central government.
