Illumi-Nation Global, Inc., was established for charitable and educational purposes, in particular to serve collaboratively with localities in crisis or lacking basic services. Electricity is a necessity but is not always available or affordable in a human-healthy, climate-friendly way. With our partner, the Phoenix TSM Foundation, our first project, The Phoenix Initiative, addresses the need for decentralized, environmentally, and financially sustainable electricity in Lebanon. Community-based solar energy systems via household subscription provide a moral, evidence-based solution with accountability to the people in a country with a weak central government.
Illumi-Nation Global is partnering with The Phoenix TSM Foundation, incorporated in Switzerland, to launch a comprehensive, transparently financed solar energy-powered socio-economic development program. The Phoenix Initiative will mitigate the disastrous impact of Lebanon’s economic collapse. Along with charitable donations, investments, and remittances, the key to unlock Lebanese socioeconomic revival is grassroots-level collective organization and cooperation to install and connect solar energy systems across a village, supplying 24-7 electricity. The logic of the program is simple. An individual who purchases one solar photovoltaic system pays $8,500. Aggregating demand to purchase 100,000 systems — across 100 villages — can reduce the cost to around $5,000. Utilizing green bond finance to raise the necessary capital and leasing the PV systems to Lebanese consumers at no upfront cost will provide affordable, clean electricity while creating thousands of jobs. Just imagine bulk-purchased photovoltaic systems across Lebanon, eliminating electricity blackouts in Lebanese households and businesses and halving power costs!
